Though paper umbrellas are now found throughout several Asian countries, they originated in China over 2,000 years ago! Originally made from brass, the ribs are now fashioned with bamboo or the bark of the mulberry tree and are topped with either silk or paper (made water resistant by treating the paper with Chinawood oil). The umbrellas are either left plain or artistically decorated with paintings of birds, branches, blossoms and more. Enjoy some relaxing “me-time” with a puzzle moment today!
