About Power to the Puzzle

The 45th and 47th presidential administrations have sparked monumental protests across the United States. National participation expanded significantly in the summer of 2025 with the recurring “No Kings” demonstrations. Attendance peaked on October 18, when nearly seven million people participated—likely marking the largest single-day protest in U.S. history.

These protests have blended humor and patriotism while openly embracing the label “Antifa.” Notably, turnout in small towns across the country has been high compared to past protest movements, which were more heavily concentrated in urban areas. Demonstrations also took place in U.S. territories and around the world.

About the Artist

Les Toil, also known as Brian Clarke, is an Oakland-based artist whose career spans major motion pictures, graphic novels, advertising campaigns, and museum exhibitions. Inspired by the pulp illustrations and pop culture of the 1970s, his signature style combines dramatic detail with playful retro energy. His work has been seen in film, television, and recently in the San Francisco De Young Museum.
