On the whimsical island of Obojima, devices from the First Age are found in cities, towns, and dotting the landscape. Many islanders have come to rely on spirit-infused vending machines to buy and sell their wares, homebrewed potions, and more. Seeing a coven witch ride by on a bicycle, or hearing the stuttering purr of a kei truck coming down the road, are some of the sights and sounds that make Obojima feel like home. Through a magical process called "whelming," spirits on the island can bring these relics of a bygone era to life, giving them new purpose and giving many Obojimans a new means of adventuring, or working. While this may feel mundane to an islander, it makes Obojima a unique and charming place to explore and live.
