THE KILLING GROUND: BOOK 1 - MEGIDDO TO MORTGARTEN (Pub. 1981)
Written by Clint Bigglestone (co-founder of DunDraCon, and father of our very own Evil Overlord) and published in 1981, "The Killing Ground: Book 1 - Megiddo to Mortgarten" was intended as the first in a series of miniature wargaming rulebooks covering specific spans of history denoted by the types of weapon technology used by the combatants.
From the back cover:
In military parlance, the "killing ground" is that area where opposing forces come to grips with one another, inflicting casualties and striving for victory.
Megiddo to Mortgarten allows two or more players to recreate any military engagement which occurred prior to the introduction of gunpowder.
Whatever the objectives, you are the general. You marshall your forces, maneuver your command and commit your troops to battle. Infantry, cavalry, camelry, chariots, elephants and ancient artillery are at your command.
